Lookout Chicago: Come July, the collective star power in town just might be enough to make the city go nova.
Concert giant Live Nation announced early Friday superstars Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake will co-headline the "Legends of the Summer" stadium tour around North America, including a July 22 stop at Soldier Field in Chicago.
According to Crain's Chicago Business, reports of the news first broke late Thursday night after images of a number of stadiums —Soldier Field among them — were posted on Jay-Z's website late Thursday with the hashtag "#LegendsOfTheSummer."
The tour kicks off July 17 in Toronto at the Rogers Centre and caps off on Aug. 16 in Miami at Sun
Life Stadium. The twelve-city tour will hit all the big cities, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Detroit, Baltimore, Boston, Miami and others.
The July show will land in Chicago less than a week after Jay-Z's wife Beyonce plays her hotly-anticipated July 17 show at the United Center and one day after the conclusion of the Pitchfork Music Festival in Union Park.
While only one of the "Legends" tour dates conflicts with the last day of Lollapalooza in August, the hectic tour demands (and probably radius clauses) now throw cold water on the rumors that HOVA was a possible headliner for the Chicago festival.
Tickets (for all dates except New York) go on sale to the public Thursday, Feb. 28 at 10 a.m.
