Gary….The Gary Chamber of Commerce invites you to a special evening honoring the 2012 Women’s Gymnastics Olympic gold , Gabrielle Douglas, on October 15, 2012 from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at the Genesis Convention Center, One Genesis Center Plaza, in Gary.
Gabrielle Douglas, known as the "Flying Squirrel," is an American artistic gymnast, winning not only the U.S. team gold medal, but snagging the gold in the All-Around event, the most prized gold medal for a gymnast. With this accomplishment, Gabrielle is the first U.S. gymnast to win both the All-Around title and team gold in the same Games. The Gary Chamber and City of Gary will celebrate Gabrielle’s accomplishments with this tribute reception.
Gabrielle is an inspiration to the youth of Northwest Indiana and worldwide. This tribute will include an evening of dinner plus appearances and presentations from various dignitaries in local government and organizations.
