The highest ranked parking ticket tab in Chicago goes to Jennifer Fitzgerald for a womping total of $106,000.
Turns out that her abandoned car has been ticketed for a number of things, such as "improperly tinted windows, not having the proper city sticker, expired plates or registration, cracked or missing windows, and broken lamps." And many of these offenses were ticketed multiple times.
But here's the twist, Fitzgerald may have been the 'owner' of the car, but she was not the driver of the car. Fitzgerald's ex-boyfriend, Brandon Preveau, purchased the car from Fitzgerald's uncle and signed the title of the car in Fitzgerald's name.
It was left abandoned at the O'Hare parking lot, Preveau's place of work. It became ticketed as an abandoned car in November, 2009, but finally towed in October, 2012. Turns out Fitzgerald never had access to the 1995 Chevrolet Monte Carlo car.
Luckily, although the vehicle received 678 tickers, Fitzgerald is only responsible for paying $4,500 out of the original total of $106,000.
