To be amongst those named Chicagoan of the year is a big deal. Wouldn't you all agree? And who better to recieve that honor than someone who completely risk their own life to save a friend's life? I think it takes the most courage to act so heroicly. One of the people who recently recieved this honor is a teenager who was shot three times while saving the life of his friend’s life on his front porch back in July.

When asked what made him decide to jump in front of flying bullets Rony Monzon replied “That was the first thing I reacted to. Get in front.” Let's be real, there are a some adults whose first instinct would NOT be to save their friend's life. So this young man definitely deserves this honor and we are glad that he survived the tragedy to be here to accept it.

He told CBS that the honor is just part of putting the shooting behind him.
