Quad Communities Development Corporation Presents Jazz @ the People Spot
Chicago Ideas Week Affiliate Event in the Historic Black Metropolis This Saturday
Quad Communities Development Corporation (QCDC)will host the first of a series of micro-festivals in the Historic Black Metropolis community; Grand Boulevard (Bronzeville), North Kenwood, Oakland and Douglas from 12pm to 5:30pm at Little Black Pearl. The free micro-fest will feature performing, culinary and visual artists from Bronzeville and elsewhere including Justefan Trio with special guest Corey Wilkes,the Bronzeville Diva, Senebella, Sandra Bivens, Sarah Marie Young, Koku Gonza, Deep Blue Trio and Organ and hosted by National Public Radio’s “Wait Wait Don't Tell ” contributor, Vocalo Radio Host, and comedian Brian Babylon. Jazz @ the People Spot is an official Chicago Ideas Week Affiliate Event. The festival will be the first event of its kind hosted at the recently installed People Spot. People Spots are temporary decks placed in underutilized parking spaces that increase foot traffic to local businesses with a goal to continue to cultivate community. At Jazz @ the People Spot, attendees will be able to read books, enjoy a cup of tea, catch up with a friend, or eat lunch similar to a typical day at the People Spot and also enjoy Jazz, art installations, and experience Chicago’s food truck scene with all sweet recipes.
