Lake Michigan Erosion Worsens On The North Shore

Residents on the north side are really starting to see a huge problem with water levels in Lake Michigan. With lake levels rising, there is erosion taking place and causing potential danger to residents in Rogers Park.

Those who live in the area of Juneway Beach said eroding shorelines are getting closer and closer to their homes and they are starting to get concerned. I'm sure you have noticed over the past few weeks, high waves crashing against the shore and when you combine that with high water levels, erosion occurs big time.

But there is some relief and good news for residents. Beginning Monday both the Chicago Park District and the Army Corps of Engineers will install boulders to help break the waves, which will ultimately limit the erosion. The city says the work will take about five weeks, and won't likely bring the beach back, but it will help ease the erosion which threatens some homes.
