Harold Baines, Lee Smith honored to get call to Hall of Fame

Harold Baines was given a save as big as any Lee Smith ever posted. In a vote sure to spark renewed cries of cronyism at Cooperstown, Baines surprisingly was picked for the baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday after never coming close in any previous election. "I wasn't sitting around thinking about it to be honest," the career .289 hitter said. "But, I'm very honored to be here. It's a very special day. A lot of my friends are here. Just honored to be a part of this great fraternity I'm joining. To be honest, I wasn't sitting around waiting to get a call. I didn't play the game for the Hall of Fame."
