Woman charged after 16-yr-old hit in face with hammer at McDonald's

A woman has been charged after a teenage girl was hit in the face with a hammer during a verbal altercation at a McDonald's restaurant, police said.

Police charged 36-year-old Hannah Walker after the incident that happened just after 9 p.m. Monday at the McDonald's at 10 E. Chicago Avenue in the city's Gold Coast neighborhood.

The day started as a shopping trip for 16-year-old Jasmine Ware and three of her girlfriends. Ware and her friends had just left the Water Tower Place and were heading to the McDonald’s for a bite to eat before they returned to their homes in Bronzesville. When they entered, they noticed a disturbance near the register.
